Cultural Revolution (1966-1976)

Page history last edited by PBworks 12 years, 4 months ago

The Chinese Cultural Revolution began in 1966, when Mao Zedong and Jiang Qing started to “criticize intellectualism”. This campaign influenced the Chinese, and soon it became a movement. It ended in 1976, when Mao died in September, 1976. In October, "Gang of Four" was crushed, and then ten years of the Cultural Revolution was ended.

From what my grandmother told me, they worked very hard to survive during the Chinese Cultural Revolution. My grandparents were lived in a small village called Jin Mei. It was a small part of Fu Jian City. Whole village only had around three hundreds people. My grandparents were lived in a house that shared with other three families. Everyday they woke up early in the morning started working, and slept late at night. My grandparents were working in the farm. My grandmother not just worked in the farm, she also needed to do the house work and take care of four children. My grandfather had carried the foods walked to the market that was far always from my house, and sale it. During that time, the family was poor, they didn’t have enough food to feed the whole family. So, only my grandfather ate rice, because he worked outside and he needed to carry many foods walk around and sale it. Other people in the family only ate potatoes mix with little rice.
